About Shauna

Shauna is an Ohio native, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio; making her way to Columbus and finding a warm and vibrant home among buckeyes. Shauna describes herself as unconditionally optimistic, eager to laugh, and humbly personable. Before becoming a licensed social worker, her past experiences working in retail, food service, and guest accommodations have given Shauna an expansive experience of commonly shared lived experiences; social work. Working collaboratively with clients and using a person-centered approach to therapy is central to the care Shauna provides to her clients. Shauna has experience and enjoys working with individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, experience substance use addiction, poly/kink populations, young adults, and those who experience depression, anxiety, and (C)PTSD.

Prior to joining Haywood Counseling, Shauna worked as an Outpatient Mental Health Therapist providing counseling services to adults, children, and couples. Shauna also worked in the non-profit sector with Columbus youth at an after school drop-in center, Kaleidoscope Youth Center. Shauna continues her work at KYC as a weekly volunteer and advocate for LGBTQ+ youth. Shauna believes therapy can be used as transformative social justice work through empowerment, self-advocacy skills, and recognizing your inherent power. Shauna uses an intersectional, anti-racist, and trauma-informed lens to meet every client where they are at.

As Shauna's client, you can expect a confidential, collaborative, and healthy working relationship that ensures your safety, security, and self-determination. Shauna is energized and excited about the potential growth, healing, and increased quality of life you can work toward together.
